Students and staff from Ryde Academy on the Isle of Wight had an unforgettable royal experience when they crossed the Solent to the site of new Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR)

Headquarters and the 1851 Trust Visitor Centre. This is currently under construction and is due to be completed in September 2015.

Students were invited,  as one of six local schools in October 2014, to take part in an arts project to create a mural of the Solent waters at the site in Portsmouth Docks. They returned to greet the Duchess of Cambridge as guests of Sir Ben, the most successful sailor in Olympic history.

As well as meeting and talking to Ryde Academy students, the Duchess worked alongside them adding the finishing touches to the mural.

Jarred Butler, Art Teacher at Ryde Academy, said after the event, "The students have done themselves and the academy proud and were brilliant ambassadors. It was an amazing day. One that the students who took part will never forget."
