GCSE results in the AET’s family of academies have improved for the fourth consecutive year since first becoming a Sponsor in September 2008.
The average marks for students in all AET academies who achieved 5 or more A*-C in English and maths rose by 2% to 48% from 2011. This figure also represents an average 8% increase across the network compared to their final scores as predecessor schools. The average year on year increase across the network since becoming academies has risen by 7%. Eleven of the eighteen AET academies gained academy status during the past academic year.
The proportion of students gaining 5 or more A*-C passes in all subjects has also risen 7% in the past year to 82%.
Among the current results are some outstanding individual achievements in the past year (5 or more A*-C English and maths), including:-
- East Point Academy, Suffolk up 8% to 41%.
- Greensward Academy, Essex up 6% to 78%
- Maltings Academy, Essex up 12% to 52%
- Richmond Park Academy, West London up 18% to 61%.
- Ryde Academy, Isle of Wight up 10% to 51%.
- Tendring Technology College, Essex up 13% to 69%.
- and Unity Academy, Middlesbrough up 22% to 47%.
Once again the dedication, hard work and commitment of students and staff in our academies have been well rewarded and I wish our learners every success in the future, whether it is continuing in education or moving on to the world of work.
