David Triggs
David Triggs, the Chief Executive Officer of the AET, has thirty-five years experience of working in education and has been Principal of Greensward (College) Academy since 1994. He was first approached by Essex LEA to offer support to a Basildon school in special measures in 2001, and has since then developed an exceptional reputation in working in schools to secure significant improvement in standards. This has involved working with schools in Luton, Haringey, Reading, Barnet and Witham. In January 2006 he was appointed the CEO of Unity City Academy in Middlesbrough.
In 2005 he was invited to be an Associate Headteacher to the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) and the following year was named as one of the first National Leaders of Education by the National College of School Leadership. His role is to work with schools that are in Special Measures or challenging circumstances to raise standards and improve the life chances of their students.
David has developed his own model of school improvement which has been employed in the twelve schools he has working with; taking four out of special measures and two to outstanding.
