Alison Paines



Alison Paines is Head of the Charities and Philanthropy Group at the law firm Withers LLP. She has over 25 years of experience in advising charities and other non-profit organisations, including educational organisations (based in England or overseas), and other non-profit organisations associated with Government.

She writes on a range of legal and regulatory issues, particularly those concerning charities and the public sector, and has contributed to leading reference publications on these subjects. She has lectured with the Department of Health and the Charity Commission on charity matters, and has spoken at events both nationally and internationally.

She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and also a member of the Charity Law Association, which she chaired from 2008-2011. She is the current Chair of Governors of the Godolphin and Latymer School, and a former Trustee of two grant-making foundations.
