If you are a graduate and have been working for around three years, School Direct (salaried) is available exclusively for you!
You will be based at an academy or school and earn a salary during your training - and there is an expectation that the school will offer you a job should one be available at the end of your training.
The cost of your training to achieve QTS is covered by the school – check with the school you are applying to whether this also includes a PGCE. These places will be funded through the Teaching Agency to subsidise salary and/or training costs. Because it is an employment based route, trainees are not eligible for a student loan.
The funding rates reflect national priorities for subjects. In particular it should be noted that there are different rates depending on the location of the employing school to reflect the different salary scales in place across the country.
Schools recruiting and training primary teachers who specialise in teaching mathematics will receive a £2,000 supplement to the standard rate for the primary programme.
You will be directly employed by the academy and will be paid a salary on Point 1 of the unqualified Teacher Pay Scale.
