How do I apply for a School Direct place with the Academies Enterprise Trust?

Click here where the process is explained or call our Teaching School Alliance on 0203 9475689.

Do you offer School Direct across all phases?

Yes. We are currently offering places at Primary, Special and Secondary academies across England.

Is there an academy near to where I live where I can train as a teacher?

We are a large national chain of 64 academies throughout England. Please contact us on 0203 8743095 to find out if there is an academy near to where you live or email: teachertraining@academiesenterprisetrust.org

What is the difference between School Direct (Salaried) and School Direct (Tuition fee)?

School Direct (Salaried) can only be offered to people who have evidence of being in employment for a minimum of 3 years. You are employed by the academy on the unqualified teacher rate.

School Direct (Tuition fee). Trainees apply to Student Finance for a grant and tuition fees.

I have heard that I may be able to get a bursary. Is this true?

Yes. If you have a good degree and wish to train in a shortage or high priority subject/phase, then you may be eligible for a bursary.

Do I need any experience in a school before I apply?

Many Initial Teacher Training Providers insist that you have some experience in a school. The minimum requirement is usually 3 days.

This helps ensure that you are suited to teaching and helps provide you with evidence to include on your letter of application. Please contact one of our academies in your region to arrange a placement of between 1 and 3 days.

How can I be assured that the Initial Teacher Training I receive will be high quality?

The AET Teaching School Alliance only works in partnership with Ofsted accredited ITT Providers who have been graded 1 - Outstanding or 2 - Good.

Will I have to travel to my academy or provider?

You will have to travel to a second placement school (a second placement is a requirement of all QTS programmes). You may need to travel to the accrediting HEI/Provider or another venue for taught sessions.
