General School Experience

If you are interested in becoming a teacher, getting some classroom experience can help you to decide whether teaching is right for you.  It will also strengthen your UCAS application and prepare you for potential interviews for Initial Teacher Training (ITT), by spending some time in a classroom and speaking to experienced teachers and school staff.

Why not spend some time in one of our schools which is an excellent way to gain an insight into teaching as a career?  AET School Experience Programme (SEP) offers classroom experience in a primary and secondary phases. The duration is flexible (1 to 10 days); this will be agreed between you and your host school.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and other safeguarding check may be required. This will be organised by the school and could impact on the length of your placement.

You will be able to apply for AET SEP if you hold or are working towards a first class or 2:1 degree and are considering teaching at primary, special or secondary level.
