Ruth has been Assistant Principal and Curriculum Leader of English 11-18 at Tendring Technology College for the last thirteen years. When she started at the school, GCSE English results were 36 % A*-C and in the Summer of 2013 they were 89%, having increased consistently so that the English Department is now outstanding which was confirmed by Ofsted in September 2013. In addition, A Level English Literature results are outstanding, compared with similar schools and have been for several years.

As an SLE, Ruth can offer support and advice with department leadership, moderation of controlled assessments and IGCSE coursework as well as whole department training in strategies such as improving exam skills in order to enable students to achieve their potential. Excellent teaching is at the heart of school improvement and she believes that all students are entitled to an education that equips them with the best possible communication skills. With over thirty years of experience of teaching in different secondary schools, Ruth has the expertise and flexibility to help you improve your English results significantly.
