Teaching School Cohort 5 Application Round

posted Oct 12, 2015, 5:56 AM by Richard Sparks   [ updated Oct 12, 2015, 5:56 AM by Nicholas Basson ]

The application round is now open and will close at midnight on 30 May 2014.

This application round will focus on areas of greatest need, ensuring geographical coverage, so that all schools can access teaching school support.

In order to support this, and in consultation with the teaching school council, the application and assessment process has been revised to provide greater flexibility for schools applying in these areas whilst maintaining the same high standard.

Schools will still be required to be judged Outstanding by Ofsted, and demonstrate high levels of pupil attainment and progress but will be given greater flexibility on evidencing previous track record in Initial Teacher Training, Continuing Professional Development and School to School Support. This change recognises that whilst the bar remains high, schools in area of greatest need may have had less opportunity to engage fully in these areas.

The National College are also keen to receive applications from phases currently under-represented nationally such as Independent, PRUs, Sixth Form Colleges and Early Years settings.

Schools outside target areas:

Schools not within the local authorities identified above will still be able to apply, however they need to be aware that they will need to provide sufficient evidence of the need for the alliance in their area and may be subject to de-prioritisation.
