Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

Governance
At present the governors own the land and assets of the school. Would this change and, if so, how?
I should be grateful if we could discuss what is meant by owned. Only the governors could make decisions about sale of land and I believe that would need the support of the LA.
Would the present system of governance continue?
Yes
How will the sponsoring group maintain the present spread of governor representation (parent, LA, community, staff etc)
We have a variety of size of governing bodies. An example of a 13 person governing body would be made up of:
Principal
Two Parents governors
Two staff governors
1 LA governor
7 Sponsor Governors (please note these are local people and in most cases existing governors – we do not ‘parachute-in’ any external governors
Is it likely that the school will have a form of chain governance – if so, what form would this take?
No
Would major future decisions about the school be open to consultation beyond the governance framework?
The role of the AET is to build the capacity of the SLT to deliver their governors’ vision.
At present, our complaints procedure outlines a system which ultimately ends with the arbitration of the Secretary of State. How will complaints be dealt with at higher level under a sponsoring group?
Same process but with the Sponsor replacing the LA.
