Key Driver How the Aspiring AST Pathway has the drivers embedded into its programme
Realise the potential of every individual The potential/suitability of the aspiring AST is agreed previous to enrolment via their SLT. The AST pathway is designed so that each delegate has an individual personalised journey to become an AST.
Celebrate the whole child As a result of sharing excellent practice in key focus sessions, delegates gain strategies and procedures that develop their own pedagogy and therefore develop the learning of all students.
Focus continuously on teaching and learning Teaching and learning underpins the criteria to become an Advanced Skills Teacher.
Maintain a perpetual cycle of monitoring, evaluation and review Each Aspiring AST is assigned a verified AST coach who supports and guides the AST through their journey by coaching logs and facilitation.
Use learning technologies to support, enhance and extend Online support is provided by AST coaches to maintain standards, target delegates and provide opportunities for progression
Promote leadership at all levels The AST criteria ensures that as part of teacher development leadership projects and tasks are fulfilled
Provide bespoke CPD for the whole school workforce The aspiring Advanced Skills Teacher Pathway is custom-built for individual continued professional development
Build partnerships within and across the school community Worked with 11 schools, from different sectors of education and increasingly growing as a Nationwide CPD programme
Share structures, systems and procedures The Aspiring AST course provides an in-depth structure to ensure participants have a clear format and system to achieve AST status
Identify and share innovation and best practice Sharing of best practice is constantly utilised by aspiring AST’s and verified AST’s to make their best better in key focus sessions and communication with each other. The AST pathway is an example of innovation within the AET.
