Julie joins Academies Enterprise Trust as a Regional Director of Education. Julie's entire career has been spent in Education. Her school based career culminating in Headship, took in the full spectrum of school contexts. The four schools where she held leadership team posts are all currently Ofsted Good or Outstanding.
She became Principal Secondary Adviser for Nottingham LA with the LA being recognised as one of the most improved LA’s nationally, during that time she had the LA Lead for the National Challenge schools, where Julie’s funding proposals were the first nationally to gain ministerial approval and were held up as an example of best practice. Despite the very high level of challenge faced by Nottingham City, no secondary school was in an Ofsted category during her tenure.
Julie became an accredited Ofsted Inspector (2007) and worked as an additional inspector for Tribal. She was a School Improvement Partner and then a National Challenge Adviser with all allocated schools making rapid progress and no longer being included in the programme beyond the first year. She was the National Challenge Adviser to the most improved school in the National Challenge programme in year one of the programme; the school added 27 percentage points to its 5EM count in one year.
In addition, Julie worked as an Education Adviser for Ormiston Education Trust with all her allocated academies performing above FFTD estimates and significantly above the new national floor target.
In 2009 she joined the elite team of City Challenge Advisers for the Department for Education on the Greater Manchester Challenge where she worked with both individual schools and LAs to secure sustainable improvement. She also works as an education adviser for the DfE in open academies and Free Schools.
Julie still enjoys the operational role in schools and academies and recently took on the role of Consultant Principal in a very challenging context helping the academy to improve by 17% points in the maths and 11% points at 5EM in one year.
