Toby Wilson

Toby joined the AET in June 2012. He is primarily responsible for the production of video based marketing, training and promotional material for academies and AET professional services. Toby came to the AET after working in health care for four years where he was a care assistant for physically disabled adults. During this time, Toby contributed his knowledge of film production to a school play, which was written by one of the patients he cared for. The play depicted the life of of the patient coping with physical disability and was performed by students to friends and family to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Toby was responsible filming the performance and producing a DVD for the school.

After gaining this experience working as a freelance film producer, Toby spent the next few years studying the craft; attending seminars at the British Film Institute and taking part in a number of long distance online courses in film editing, lighting, photography and directing. During this time he also started building a portfolio of work by directing music videos, short films and creating animation samples for use in film/video. In September 2010 Toby started work at Palmers Sixth Form College as a media and film technician where he would assist staff and students with the technical side of film production and provide editing workshops to aid practical coursework completion.

Before joining the AET Toby was hired as Director of Photography on a feature film produced by Other Dimension Films, he is also continuing his freelance work directing music videos and promotional films.

In addition to providing the AET with all its video material, Toby also manages the video hosting platform Vimeo for its use throughout AET academies. This service has been made available from September 2012 and provides academies with an online video channel where videos can be shared throughout the AET community.
