Everest Community Academy offer alternative physical education

Everest Community Academy offer alternative physical education

The Everest Community Academy PE department have offered year 11 students a slightly different type of activity to the normal options for core PE this term. Alternative Fitness is a company based in Andover running Cross fit training sessions to paying members. The cross fit training is centred around strength and conditioning and develops the techniques used in Olympic weight lifting to increase muscles strength and definition. Students have been given the opportunity to experience Olympic weight lifting in a fun and physical way. Learning the techniques of the squat, dead lift and moving onto more complex exercises.
Gareth Millings, owner of alternativefitness.co.uk, delivers the sessions on a Tuesday period 5 to around 18 students. Each student is put through their paces in a very different form of training which they have really enjoyed.
The Everest Community Academy PE department are hoping to continue this link with the club and introduce it to other year groups as the year progresses.
